Fun February Marketing Ideas for Your Martial Arts Business (Beyond Valentine’s Day!)

February is more than just hearts and candy for your sweetie; it’s a time to shower your business with some L-O-V-E by way of lead generation and new member enrollments.

Here we look at monthly and daily observances you can leverage to create fun, impactful marketing campaigns that draw in new business — and engage current members.

Let’s go!

American Heart Month (Feb. 1 – Feb. 28)

February is American Heart Month — a 28-day opportunity to shine a spotlight on heart health and encourage healthy habits that help reduce the risk of heart disease.

Use this observance as an opportunity to educate your members on heart-healthy habits and to get out into your community.

◾  Run a “Steps” challenge where your staff and members form teams and use a tracker to track steps. Encourage members to invite their friends. The winning team at the end of the month gets a prize. Share the fun you have on your business’ social media pages.

◾  Host a free seminar that’s open to the community where you talk about the importance of heart-healthy habits and the life-changing effects of martial arts and fitness.

◾  Coordinate a Heart Walk with members through the American Heart Association. Encourage members to invite their friends.

Need some more inspo? Check out the resource: 25 Ways to Take Part in Heart Month provided by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI). Organizing a cook-off using heart-healthy recipes is just one of the many fun, creative ways to spread heart-healthy messages throughout the month.

Random Acts of Kindness Day (Feb. 17) & Random Acts of Kindness Week (Feb. 14 – Feb. 20)

While being kind to others should be encouraged every day, Random Acts of Kindness Day and Random Acts of Kindness Week provide a great opportunity to teach kindness to younger students through hands-on lessons.

Visit Random Acts of Kindness.org’s list of kindness ideas to incorporate a unique activity into your martial arts lesson plans. For instance, you could have your students:

◾  Create kindness bookmarks to pass out to others
◾  Send a heartfelt note to someone to brighten their day
◾  Hold a drive to collect teddy bears to be donated to hospitals, police stations, or fire departments for kids in need

These are just some of the meaningful, teachable moments you could create by adding a kindness activity to your martial arts curriculum. See the complete list of kindness ideas from Random Acts of Kindness.org here.

Valentine’s Day (Feb. 14)

Of course, Valentine’s Day provides ample opportunity to promote your programs to prospective members.

When marketing to adults, you could offer a “Fall in Love with Fitness” membership discount, a free “Make Your Heart Happy” health seminar, or a special “Show Yourself Some Love” Valentine’s Day class.

For couples, consider offering a “Train Together, Stay Together” membership package or hold a special Valentine’s Day class for couples.

When marketing children’s martial arts programs, offer a “Have a Kickin’ Valentine’s Day!” special membership offer or hold a special Valentine’s Day class for kids. Encourage your existing students to bring their friends to class.

Presidents Day (Third Monday in February)

School districts are typically closed on Presidents Day, but not every mom and dad has off from work. That makes Presidents Day a great time to run a one-day martial arts camp or a fitness bootcamp. Promote the camp to your existing students and encourage them to bring their friends!
